Ausangate (Awsanqati in Quechua) is one of the high mountains of Peru, its altitude maximum of 6384 meters. It is located about 100 kilometers southeast of the city of Cusco. is surrounded by mountains, rivers, lakes and lagoons. The high Andes, home to very few remaining Llama and Alpaca herding communities in the world, is one of the most pristine tropical mountain ranges, Glaciers, Lakes, Lagoons and the impressive towering Mountain tops, have been made accessible to international and national visitors by developing the installations and the human qualifications needed to convert a tourist potential resource into a product. next Vilcanota river you can hike at heights ausangate mountain, above 5000m and have fabulous panoramic views at cristaline lakes and nearby mountains.You can see the tipical Andean animals as lamas, alpacas and vicuñas, meet local people who speak Quechua and know about their religion (their contact with the Apus (the mountain spirit) , customs and life in the Andes.This hike is quite a long and difficult one (you walk 7-8 hours a day), so we recommend to prepare well, doing shorter walks at altitud during 3 days before starting the hike.
