We work to maintain a relationship with the local farmers of Cusco which allows the preservation, coexistence and permanent sharing of their culture, including their: general lifestyle, customs, rites, dances, effective agrarian technology, yearnings and hopes, their cosmogony, visions, beliefs and their future. But this Andean coexistence that we propose to you, to be complete, requires the vitally of your culture as well and answers which you can leave with us. Not only can you share your technological manifestations and agrarian techniques, but also such cultural things as your dances, myths, legends and your own hopes and perspectives of the future which you would like to share with our cusqueños farmers during your stay, as we look for harmony, peace, and world-wide integration. If you look for a lifestyle that is already forgotten; if you wish to go back to our origins and to move away from the technological daze of the great cities in which you live in excessive dependency of the material world, you will be able to, in time, totally change your life, becoming integrated with the Mother Earth, la Pacha Mama. With a lampa, a tool used for working the land, and the plow, you will learn to plant and gather crops as our ancestors did thousands of years ago. You will directly eat from the Mother Earth, Pacha Mama, with your own hands. You will experience the delights of guinea pig, charqui (dried meat), lamb, chicharrones (pig meat), the potato, oca, habas (tubers), mote (traditionally prepared corn), and traditional chicken soup, all of which were perhaps planted and raised by other tourists before you, tourists like you, and which you will be able to plant for other brothers who will come after you.
In this experience, you will adapt to a simple, almost primitive form of life. By participating with the farmers in planting, harvesting, raising the cattle, drinking chicha sagrada (a drink of the Inkas) in honor of the Gods, and in learning the preparation of typical foods, performing the rituals in tribute to: the Mother Earth, the coca leaf, to mountains (Apus) and ancestral deities will be unforgettable for you… and for us. All these unforgettable moments will be complemented by your own songs, yearnings, feelings and rituals, and with the powerful sensation of freedom that will be imprinted upon you by the incomparable Andean beauty Tours.
At the moment we have two farmers houses implemented for the lodging of visitors. They are:
- The area of the houses assigned for tourists is independent of where the family lives.
- Local materials have been used and conform with the decorative styling of the regions houses.
- Water bottles for drinking have been placed in the quarters and kitchen.
- Bathrooms are equipped with sinks, toilets and the traditional, (memorable) cold showers and septic systems.
- Kitchens are implemented with the region´s typical utensils.
- Wood fires are used for food preparation.
- The houses provide the basic comforts so that visitors can still enjoy a pleasant stay.
The primary objective is to look for the benefit of the community through development of tourism, this way, it will be managed in order to increase the economic and cultural level of the families involved. Tourists who choose to participate in this type of tourism, have a different and unique experience, and will also be helping these rural communities to leave the poverty in which they are in and to reconstruct their culture.

The farmers of the involved families in the communities will be the main suppliers of inputs for the project. Tourists will visit the houses of the farming families enrolled based on their skills and preferences.
WWW.KANATRAVEL.COM will donate 10% of the sale price directly to the community. The farming families receive an amount of money to provide for the lodging of visitors (per person and night), similar to lodging in any local.
