Located in the spurs of the mountain Salcantay, 10,000 feet (3,035 metres), surrounded by the snow capped Apus de Yanama, Ampay, Choquecarpu, Pumasillo and Panta, and alongside the Apurimac river.
We depart in the morning and travel for 4 hours to Cachora, where we will have lunch. After lunch we will begin our 21km trek to Playa Rosalina at 5,100 feet (1,550 metres), along the way, we will observe snow-covered Padrayoc and Wayna Cachora. Camping in Santa Rosa.
After an early breakfast, we will continue our way to Choquequirao, and arrive at the archaeological site after about 5 hours. The visit to this majestic place will involve observing 3 levels of excavations (houses, terraces, and channels of irrigation of this Incan city), ruins in excavation process, and finally unexplored areas.
At approximately 3:00pm, depending on the climate, we will be able to see condors fly overhead. We will eat and camp at Raqaypata, Choquequirao at 9,550 feet (2,910 metres).
After breakfast we take a guided visit to the archaeological Complex of Choquequirao, where we will observe the construction of its main seat, ushno and its platforms. Afterwards we will walk to Marampata, where we’ll eat for lunch and rest before continuing to Chiquisca our resting place for the night.
After breakfast, we will begin the return walk to Cachora, on route we will again observe the Tube? of the Apurimac. We will spend the night at Cachora.
After breakfast we will begin our walk from Cachora to Sayhuite, where we will visit the monolith of Sayhuite that measures 2.5 metres in height and represents the geography and environment of this zone which is carved on the rock, we will also visit the thermal Baths of Conoq before arriving back into Cusco at night.
